Practice Owner Dr. Ashlee Andrews, DVM
Born and raised in Albuquerque, practice owner Dr. Ashlee Andrews received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 2005. She pursued her undergraduate studies at the University of New Mexico where she was a member of the Lobo track and cross country teams and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2001.
Dr. Andrews has worked in small animal emergency and critical care, equine, farm animal and general small animal practices. She likes caring for animals of all shapes and sizes and is particularly interested in soft tissue surgery, animal behavior and wound management. Her favorite part of being a veterinarian is supporting the human/animal bond between our clients and their pets.
Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her six children, four dogs, five cats, four chickens, rabbit and pet lizard. She is committed to serving the people and animals of New Mexico
Dr. Jenny Sprott-Smith - Medical Director - DVM
Dr. Jenny Sprott-Smith is a very proud graduate of Clemson University. She attended Mississippi State University for veterinary school and graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2013. Dr. Sprott-Smith enjoys helping her geriatric patients and outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband, son, cat (Edy) and dog (Izzy).
Dr. Silvia Rodriguez - DVM
Dr. Rodriguez studied biology at the University of New Mexico. She attended veterinary school at Colorado State University and graduated in 2005. Dr. Rodriguez has a special interest in multimodal pain management as well as senior/geriatric care. Her bilingual background is a wonderful asset to our practice. Dr. Rodriguez loves that everyday is different, and the special bonds that she is able to form with her patients and clients. In her free time, Dr. Rodriguez enjoys spending time with the world’s cutest chihuahua, Pinky.
Dr. Danielle Dawkins - DVM
Dr. Danielle Dawkins received her veterinary degree from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. She completed her undergraduate studies at New Mexico State University where she graduated Suma Cum Laude in 2005 with her bachelor’s degree in animal science.
Born and raised in southern New Mexico Dr. Dawkins always wanted to be a veterinarian. As a child she would often be found on her family farm playing with dogs, cats, horses, goats, and any other animal that happened to wander onto the property. As a veterinarian Dr. Dawkins is happiest in the surgery suite and has a special interest in and love for giant breed dogs.
Outside of the clinic Dr. Dawkins can be found hiking with her husband and dogs, rock climbing, cooking, or playing a game of dungeons and dragons. She also enjoys travel and trying new foods and activities.
Dr. Clara Hansen - DVM
Dr. Clara Hansen was originally born in Würzburg, Germany and moved to Las Cruces at a young age. She always had a passion for helping animals and started working in veterinary clinics while in high school where her love for veterinary medicine started. She attended New Mexico State University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She then attended Colorado State University and received her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2022.
Her special interests include preventive medicine, soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine. She strives to foster the human animal bond and creating long-lasting relationships with her clients. She shares her home with her boyfriend Tanner, Golden Retriever named Pennie, and Chocolate Lab named Jaxon. In her free time she loves spending time outdoors with her family, fishing, hiking, and camping.
Dr. Niccolett Ochoa - DVM
Dr. Niccolett Ochoa is a New Mexico native, born and raised in Albuquerque. She made her way to Ohio State University where she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2020. She returned home after graduation and has worked in our community for the last 2 years. Dr. Ochoa's special interests include veterinary nutrition, general surgery, and end of life care. When she's not working, she spends most of time with her four dogs and two cats. Of course, they wouldn't all cooperate for the photo, so Maple is the only one pictured.
Dr. Rachel Barnes - DVM
Born and raised in Albuquerque, Dr. Rachel Barnes received her veterinary degree from Colorado State University in 2013. She completed her undergraduate work at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, where she received her bachelor’s degree in biology in 2009.
Dr. Barnes’ interests include exotic animals (reptiles in particular) and small animal internal medicine.
Outside of work she enjoys reading, playing tennis, and watching anime.
Dr. Karen Slack - DVM
Dr. Karen Slack graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. Dr. Slack practices small animal medicine and surgery. She has a strong interest in internal medicine.
When she is not busy treating patients, Dr. Slack loves hiking, traveling to new places, and reading.
